[stop 2] Montreal - Schwartz's

my bf and I were stuffed after the two plates of poutine, but we decided to stick to our plan and head to Schwartz's for their famous smoke meat sandwich! I think Schwartz's sandwich is perhaps one of the most famous and must go places of montreal! it's recommended by everyone, and it's on all the food review sites.. I am personally amazed by the publicity of the place.

although it was quite a long walk to Schwartz's, but we enjoyed it and looked at the beautiful streets of montreal and all the restaurants we can potentially go to!

but soon, we are arrived at our destination!
here is a tip! bring cash! they do not accept debit or credit... which I think they should considering how well known they are.
There is another restaurant right beside them that has the same name, I am not sure if it is the same restaurant or a copy cat that tries to steal their customers... but they place is no where near crowded at the actual Schwartz's, people were lining out side of the door and the room was packed!

Schwartz's
location: 3895 Boulevard St-Laurent
Montreal, QC H2W
phone: (514) 842-4813
average spending: $8/ person
atmosphere: crowded crowded crowded!! (during lunch hour)
taste: 8.7/10 (best sandwich I have ever had!)
service: 7.5/10 (the waiter was a little rude...>.<)

we were forced to stay outside because the room was full... and the picture is a pile of smoked meat! honestly, it looked pretty disgusting, they were thrown on to a questionable paper...
The waiter was really mean, he would not let us go in even when there is room... although it is extremely crowded inside, he attitude was just mean!
when we eventually squeezed inside, it was our turn to order.. there was no clear menu or prices, but I knew I wanted to get the smoke meat sandwich... so I told them two sandwiches... I was not even sure if I ordered right... the guy who took my order asked me repeatedly "just two sandwich???" I am sure he did not mean it but it sounded to me like he was saying.." you sure you do not want to get me more money??" lol...

The sandwich is actually much smaller than what I had imaged or what I have seen on pictures.... it's about the same size as any other regular sandwich but much much thicker... I would say that I can finish a whole sandwich myself... and I do not eat much...

even though we planned to eat in the restaurant... we end up doing take out because the place is just so jam packed! and we would need to wait much longer if we wanted to dine in... when we finally got our order.. we paid and got out! the sandwich is about $6.50 each + tax~ ok priced!

I took my little doggy bag and left~
we were still extremely full from the poutine.. so we ate the sandwich much later on at night! here is the much anticipated reveal! I love how the sandwich is wrapped, it feels so traditional!
you probably seen a Schwartz's sandwich times before... and I have too... but it is still exciting seeing it in 3D for the first time! the sandwich is made up of rye bread with mustard, and a lot of smoked meat! even though the picture shows that the meat is pretty lean, there were some fatty parts.... they melts in you mouth... but I still felt some of the big fat pieces were pretty disgusting... bf is a big hater of fat.... but with his lack of attention to detail.. he never noticed them... if he did .. I would have to finish the two sandwich myself.... which is not a bad idea at all!!!!
a mountain of meat!!!I personally felt guilt eating so much meat... but I know vege would have just kill the whole sandwich and make it less awesome! I would have liked more mustard, the tangy, bitter taste really helped to cut through the meatiness of the sandwich!

overall it is a delicious sandwich... I typically do not like any particular sandwich.. they are all just okay to me... but this one I really like! but is it as heavenly as other people have described it?? NO! is it a little overrated??? YES!!! it is probably one of the best sandwiches in the world... but it is still just a sandwich....and to me sandwiches is not all the heavenly to begin with... but still.... I would definitely have it whenever I come to Montreal! it's more than just a sandwich.. the line up, all the squeezing... it's more of a experience!

believe it or not... I have only covered about the first three hours of our time in Montreal...  there is so much more things we did and saw and ate! stay tuned...

that night we went to an awesome night winter festive!
