SINGAPORE ADVENTURE - FIRST IMPRESSION

Because my boyfriend is on exchange in Singapore, I was lucky enough to see the country, and the city through the  local's perspective.

For the past month, Hong Kong had started to cool down, this morning, the temperature was only 23. I expected that Singapore would have also cooled down, this however was not the case. As soon as I stepped out of the air conditioned air port, a layer of hot, humid air covered me, the air smelled like fire and everything felt sticky. This was 11 pm! You might have noticed the odd comment about Singapore air smelling like fire, yes, it does, the local told that this is because every year during October, Malaysia would set part of its forest on fire to enrich its soil, so every year around this time, Singapore's air is especially bad and dusty.

As we made our way to my hostel, I noticed that
Singapore cars drives on the left side of the road. When I first arrived in Hong Kong, People told me that HK drives on the left side because of the British influence, this, however, does not explain the situation in Singapore. (Just found out Singapore is previously a British colony, that explains everything XD)

Contrary to what I have expected, majority of Singapore's building are not very tall, people lived in houses instead of apartments, the houses in western styles, with a yard and garage. There houses are also very large, often 3 to 4 storages. Only the financial district had skyscrapers. Compare to HK, every where is skyscrapers.

similar to HK's octopus card, Singapore has EZlink, which can be purchased at any MRT (subway/underground train) station. It also works the same way as HK.

All in all,  Singapore is VERY similar to HK!

However, Singapore's malls are fail! it usually have very few stores that are not very good, no wonder people come to HK to shop, I actually spotted a shirt that I saw in Mong kok lol O(∩_∩)O~

despite its not-so-great malls, like you probably have heard, Singapore has a huge selection of food. Food stands and restaurants are everywhere. They are especially famous for its sea food.

Here is a list of must try foods if you ever find yourself in Singapore
