New hobby? addiction?

I have recently become addicted to couponing, and if you can bear with me until the end, I will show you some of the saving I got from couponing.. I saved like 43%!!!

The story goes something like this, I was watch "Kourtney and Kim take new york" ... I admit, I love the Kardashians... in episode five Khole tells Kourtney that she was watching "extreme couponing" and Kourtney got hooked on couponing for a bit...

later that night I youtubed the show "extreme couponing" and it is just amazing... people are laterally paying pennies to nothing for hundreds and thousand dollars worth of grocery items!

p.s. saving money = cool... couponing= saving money ... therefore couponing= cool

but I do feel a bit like a grandma thinking this way, but let's face it, a university student is not one of the most profitable occupations out there. >.<

here is a link of how this guy paid nothing for $885.64 worth of food through coupon!!

so I spend the next day looking through the internet for coupons, and I end up signing up for a huge amount of coupons that will arrive in my mail box in the next few weeks!! I admit, my saving will be nowhere close to the extreme couponers... but it's still great to save money.

here comes the photo and my first experience couponing

here I m all equip and ready to hit the road, I washed my hair this morning and took the opportunity to curl it while it dried.. can you tell it's curled? did not show up too well in the photo

I spend a little time clipping coupons before hand. I do realize that coupon can lead you to buy useless things, but I have great self control and I know what I use and do not use, so I have set strike rules for myself.... but if you watch the extreme couponing show, sometimes they buy things that care useless because it earns them money or "overage" from the coupons.
I even turned a small photo album into a coupon organizer and it is categorized by product type hehe...
ok, so here is what I have came to buy. My dad is very specific about the type of hair dye he use, it has to be the "just for men" brand, and he would not use girl one cause he says it's for girls... when in fact they are all the same thing... so.. I just happen to come across a $3 off print off coupon. unfortunately you still need to pay the tax of the whole price >.<
so, let's do some math. The retail price for the hair dye is $12.99, but it's on discount for $9.99

the total cost paying full retail price +tax would be $12.99*1.13= $14.67

the total cost paying discounted price+ tax would be $9.99*1.13= $11.3

the total cost paying discounted price+ tax - coupon saving would be $9.99*1.13-3.00= $8.3 (<- what I paid)

a saving of 43% from retail price

a saving of 26.5% from discounted price... the tax really hurt me.. could have saved a lot more without it... but it's Canada I live in.. cannot be helped.
