Easy Chocolate Covered Walnut Holiday Gift!

When it comes to gifts for your boy friend/girl friend, homemade always says "I love you" louder than store bought, and nothing makes Christmas merrier than chocolate! Here is a easy gift idea that's great for someone your love <3

My boyfriend loves chocolate covered almonds, and he consumes they like water... so I figured that there is no better way to say "I love you" this Christmas than some homemade chocolate covered nuts.!

The first step is to make a double boilers.. I simply added water to my pot and placed a bigger bow on top. Make sure the bottom of the bow does not touch the water, else the chocolate will burn~

I bought about 200 g of dark chocolate slab from bulk barns, costing me around $2.50 (it's like OMG Cheap!). I cut it up into small pieced before melting it in my double boiler.

Once the water boils in your double boiler, turn the burner to low. Continuously stir the chocolate so it melts evenly and does not burn~ make sure no water gets into the melted chocolate!!!!!!
I only have walnuts in my house today, so I decided to use them~, I chopped half of the walnuts into small pieces and left half in whole... just to test out which one turns out better <3
Before I started to coat the walnuts with chocolate, I covered my cutting board with plastic wrap for the chocolate to rest on for cooling.
To coat the walnut, all I did was drop a hand full of walnuts into the chocolate and stir it around until covered. And because I am Chinese, chop stick is my utensil of choice
I then placed it on the plastic covered cutting board
Same thing with the chopped up walnuts, I put a hand full of nuts into the chocolate and scooped up small nuggets on to the cutting board

The last step is to place it in the fridge and let it cool for about 30 minutes.
Once it cools, it will easily pill off the plastic wrap~
I end up liking the chopped up version of the chocolate covered walnuts better because there is more chocolate on it!
Simply place all the chocolate into a festive box, and you are done! Nothing says merry Christmas like chocolate <3

Merry Christmas everyone, and admittedly, I have almost finished all of the chocolate covered walnut as I am writing this blog entry~ I guess I will have to make more <3
