Holiday Make up Temptation and Benefit Cosmetics' They're Real! Mascara Review

Sunny
Hey Sunshine,
Yes, I am back, and I promise that I will return to this blog every single time I am not swamped with my other components of life. But if you want more of me, and I know all of you do, you can check out my Youtube Vlog channel Sunnydraco Vlog or my DIY channel SunnyDIY.
Any how, let's catch up! The holiday season is almost here, and for the past few days, I am spammed with holiday promotions, and the sad part is that I want to buy them all!!! But for the sake of my wallet size, I cannot >.< I saw these two eye shadow palette that's just so pretty, and so value pack that I am having a constant struggle with my inner self to not type in my credit card number and hit submit. Here is the thing, the thing is, I have never finished using a single eye shadow/ eye shadow palette that I have ever bought, meaning, I have a ton at home. But the collector's mentality is kicking in and I just want to buy it to own it, even if it means I will, maybe, use it only a few times before I move onto the next fav.

Here is an item I am considering, ok, it's more like item-s... but it comes in a set.
It's the Bon Voyage Collector's Set and Travel Bag by tarte, and it's only $71. I mean, sure it's a little expensive, but a single palette costs around $60... like the Naked palette by Urban Decay. How can I allow myself to miss out on this awesome bargain. Like any good shopper, I will wait a few more agonizing days to prove to other people that it's not an impulse buy. Yes, I am terrified of judgement.
This morning, as I put on my makeup, I decided that I will give Benefit Cosmetics' They're Real! Mascara (C$ 29.00) a third chance, because I really want to love an item that everyone else seems to love. I feel like, in a way, if I do not love it, I am weird, or my judgement is off and the earth is no longer round any more. Ok, I kid, the earth is, and will always be, round.

Ok. enough complaining from me, and I promise I will return shortly.

Ok, so here is the series of events that took place this morning. I perfectly applied eye shadow, eye-liner and made sure my lashes are as curly as it can be. Then, I took a deep breath and hoping for a different turn out as I wiggled my They're Real! Mascara wand from base to tip over and over again to build up the layers.
They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. This mascara is honestly driving me insane. It SUCKS!!!
Ok, ok, so it's not all bad, and I feel after so much resentment I should really explain myself.
I will start off with the positive, and there are many.
1. I like the wand, it coated each individual lash without clumping
2. The tip of the wand is domed so it can coat the bottom lashes
3. As for lengthening and volumizing? I will give it a passing grade, but I should warn you to expect no miracles.
My issue? The formula sucks at holding the curl, and as soon as it's on my lashes, my lashes point straight down and that's just not cute.
Forget volumizing, forget lengthening, to me, the number one thing a mascara should do is to hold a curl, then, volume and length are bonuses.
Now I question if the whole love affair with Benefit's They're Real! Mascara is really a very successful marketing campaign.
As much as I hate to say bye, bye to a very expensive mascara, it's just not worth it to kill an awesome eye make up look with a bad mascara job.
Ok. enough complaining from me, and I promise I will return shortly.
